India is set to become the world's youngest country by 2020 and it is imperative that the country's youth is provided a credible and powerful forum for voicing their views, thoughts and ideas. Some say that India is a rising power while others argue that India has already risen. Whichever may be the case, the role of young scholars in the growth story is important. After all, this demographic dividend will spur the nation’s growth in all sectors including science, technology and security to meet future challenges. Moreover, young scholars pursuing international relations and security studies in the country would benefit from a better understanding of scientific and technological issues and their impact on national security. Similarly, young researchers in the sciences will benefit by becoming more aware of the role of science and technology in national security. As a University based forum, students and young professionals in these multi-disciplinary areas are encouraged to develop an original perspective on defence, technology and science driven issues affecting security and policy.
